SITAC/Historical Context

Kursk, Eastern USSR, 1943

The Battle of Kursk, fought from July 5 to August 23, 1943, was a critical World War II confrontation between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union on the Eastern Front. It is renowned as one of the largest tank battles in history and marked a pivotal moment in the war. The battle centered around the Kursk salient, a bulge in the Soviet front lines. Anticipating a German offensive (Operation Citadel), Soviet forces fortified the region with extensive defensive works, including minefields, anti-tank barriers, and entrenched troops. When the Germans launched their attack, they faced fierce resistance. Despite initial gains, the Soviet counter-offensives, including Operations Kutuzov and Polkovodets Rumyantsev, turned the tide. By mid-August, the Soviets had not only repelled the German assault but also launched a successful counter-attack, pushing the Germans back and capturing key positions. The Battle of Kursk depleted German military resources and morale, shifting the strategic initiative to the Soviet Union. It was a turning point that set the stage for the Red Army's advance towards Germany, culminating in the eventual defeat of Nazi Germany in 1945.

SITAC/Historical Context

25th March 2018, Altis Island, Mediterranean

As tensions continuously escalate between the Greek and US Governments, the US assures its long standing partners, that its position in the Mediterranean will be strengthened, in order to deter any possibly hostile activities. The Greeks have taken a policy of neutrality when it comes to the area of the Mediterranean, but has recently decided to redeploy its troops to the African theatre against recommendations from NATO. The US doesn't want its partners to actively weaken the Mediterranean sector, as Islands such as Altis, act as Forward Operating Bases for the combat missions within the Middle East. In the eyes of America, this is considered a betrayal and and act of sabotage in regards to the policy that NATO is set to uphold. Due to the Greeks referring to act on their own, the US perceives this as an act of hostilities, and won't allow partners as such to dictate terms and policy. At first, a diplomatic approach is set in motion, with the US ambassador to Greece, wanting Islands such as Stratis and Altis to be under American control, for a set period of time, in order to allow for further combat missions to be launched. The Greeks unanimously decided to decline such actions, and start redeploying forces to its islands, Altis in particular, without acknowledging the US. At the same time, the US naval task force in the Mediterranean, lands a small mechanized force on the island of Altis, under the cover of darkness. Both sides know how important the airport on the island is to supply and logistics, and are prepared to take it from one another by force.

• Please be careful when towing the artillery pieces ( I'd recommend not exceeding 60kph)

SITAC/Historical Context

Sibuyan Island, Philippines 2018

Throughout recent times, the Philippine Government has been engaged against several rebel factions throughout its borders, mainly due to external influence. Philippine President, Rodrigo Duterte has strongly welcomed foreign material support from nations such as the United States or Australia, regarding the removal of foreign threats throughout his nation. The Presidential Office now thinks that its time to plan the final move regarding the expulsion of militants and extremists which have taken refuge on the Islands surrounding the Philippine mainland. An Island that has been a particular target is Sibuyan Island, due to top government and military officials believing it serves as a staging point for militant operations. Alongside this, the Mayor of the Island Mangao Ramos hasn't necessarily being playing along with the Government. Before the Battle of Marawi started, Ramos was ordered to completely expel the Island of militant presence. New reconnaissance footage has shown militants moving heavy military assets in and around the Island. With pressure mounting to prevent another attack on the mainland, and eliminate the threat, the Philippine Military decided to take over the Island, and bring in Ramos for questioning. Recon elements of the Philippine Armed Forces have managed to capture Ramos, but the Rebels have got wind of the situation, and begin to deploy their assets in order to kill Ramos and cover up the cooperation between both parties.

SITAC/Historical Context

Isfahan, Iran 1994

Iran is burning. Protest have arisen throughout the country, regarding the dismissal of the very popular Minister of Justice Sameer Murad. Murad was a key instigator within the government regarding the adoption of more Western policies and is a key figure regarding the slow removal of autocratic power within the country. The US Department of Defense wants to use this opportunity in order to conduct espionage regarding the countries top officials. This is performed through high altitude reconnaissance flights, over Irans largest cities. The Americans are confident that one of their new stealth helicopter prototypes, is ready to be put to use. During a recon mission over Isfahan, the helicopter suffers a malfunction and is forced to crash land within the city. The US scramble together the infamous 'Task Force Ranger' which includes US Rangers, Delta Force and the 160th SOAR, in order to rescue the pilots. The Iranians see this as an opporunitity in order to gain valuable information on the helicopter and the pilots, and sends the 3rd Reaction Brigade, which contains a lightly motorized force, alongside the Iranian Republican Guard in order to secure the crash site and the pilots.

SITAC/Historical Context

Elvenes, Norway 2019
Tensions have been arising between Norway and Russia for the past couple of months. Diplomats of both nations have been part of struggling debates amongst each other regarding territorial disputes, including their land and maritime borders. There have been multiple times in which the Russian Northern fleet has been hundreds of meters from sailing into Norwegian waters without permission. The Norwegians in retaliation have been doing the exact same thing, on a much smaller scale, using RHIBs and patrol boats to almost veer into Russian waters. Midway through June, Russian diplomats crossed into Norway in order to delegate talks regarding the recent activities between both nations. On the night of the 15th of June, a standard change was supposed to take place at Checkpoint Oslo. Throughout the night civilians in the area have reported large amounts of gunfire in the general direction of the Checkpoint. Norwegian units in the area have tried to establish contact with the unit which was supposed to take over at the checkpoint, with no response. At around the same time, the embassy housing the Russian diplomats loses connection with the Kremlin. Norway prepares to send it a task force in order to investigate the checkpoint, and open fire on anyone within its surrounding, whereas Russia is mobilising its forces in order to rescue its diplomats and defend the military college in the area.

Informations générales/General Informations
xx. The Diplomats position will be updated every 2 minutes
xx. The VIP can be moved by the Norwegians, but in order to gain the point, he will have to be inside the embassy by the end of the game, for the Russians he has to be inside the safehouse.
xx.Both sides have to capture the Checkpoint and the Military College which have a 60 minute time limit. Once the mission time reaches 70 minutes, the zone will be locked, and the side with the majority will capture the area.
xx. For REDFOR to complete the diplomat objective, the diplomats have to be inside the safehouse which is marked on the map. If the Norwegians lose the Diplomat, he can be recaptured and brought back to the original starting position
xx. All vehicles, including land and air have had their HE removed
xx. The helicopters are to first be used by the airborne squads, once they are transported anyone can use the helicopters.

Lithuania, 2022
NATO's proposal of an idea to strengthen its Baltic flank has been received positively apart from one member, Lithuania. The fear of attracting unwanted aggression grows larger throughout the Lithuanian high command, in that increasing troop numbers in the region will only be perceived as an aggressive stance to its neighbors in the east. NATO high command is receiving this as a direct threat to their security in the region, which involves members such as Estonia or Latvia being left without competent strength in order to stand up to a possible invasion. To them, it seems as if Lithuania is trying to seek other opportunities in the form of defensive alliances, possibly more eastward. Highest ranking NATO officials have given a green light for a pre-emptive strike against strategic Lithuanian positions to prevent the country from essentially defecting against its defensive partners. The plan consists of striking various military installations across the country at lightning speed. One specific objective that has been labeled of high importance is Vilkaviškis Airfield, located a mere 20km from Kaunas, the second largest city in the country. The possesion of this strategic airfield can change the entire situation in the region, due to its highly valuable location.

xx.The Polish forces only have to their disposition 4 Mi-17 Helicopters for the whole team, meaning that multiple trips will have to be made.
xx.Lithuanians on the other hand are a light motorized force with a variation of NATO MRAP's and transport trucks.
xx.Both laptop objectives are configured so that only BLUEFOR are the ones which can access them. The interaction takes 30 seconds and a message will appear when the interaction is complete. REDFOR have to only defend the objectives.
xx. Mortars inside FOB Europa can either be destroyed by a LAT kit or a demolition expert. For REDFOR, either moving or disassembling the mortars is strictly prohibited.
